Ted Lasso(2020) is an American sports comedy-drama television series and is Apple TV+ exclusive. It is developed by Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly. The series is based on a character of the same name which Sudeikis first portrayed for NBC Sports' coverage of the Premier League.


The first season was nominated for 20 Primetime Emmy Awards and it became the most nominated freshman comedy in Emmy Award history. The series won the 2021 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series, with Sudeikis, Brett Goldstein, and Hannah Waddingham winning for their performances as well. Also, Sudeikis won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series.

"I genuinely feel this is one of the best TV shows out there right now. I watched it on a whim with my partner because we'd completed everything else we were watching and we had just joined Apple TV+. I was blown away and couldn't stop watching- even watched a couple episodes twice (?!). What a beautiful piece of art and joy to experience during such a tough time in the world. "Ted Lasso is one of the top series on tv - period. It's combination of humor, real life issues, outstanding character actors (especially Jason Sudakis and Brett Goldstein) and contemporaneous makes it a must see series to watch. Whether you like European football or not doesn't make any difference. You'll enjoy Ted Lasso. My only regret is that I can't binge watch the Second Season in one sitting but have to wait for new weekly episodes. Apple +TV is a fledging streaming service however just for Ted Lasso alone it is worth subscribing."- Frank Muschetto

The series is about Ted Lasso who is hired to coach an English soccer team despite having no soccer coaching experience. This is an attempt by its owner, Rebecca Welton, to spite her ex-husband. Nevertheless, Lasso tries to win over Rebecca, the team and those who are skeptical about him being appointed as the soccer coach due to his lack of experience in the sport.
